Cool "Special Order No 1" written at the "Head Quarters of Commanding Officers of Detachment of Prisoners" at "Cairo Illinois Sept. 6th 1862."
Order instructs the commanding officer of Company A, 69th Ills. Vols. to provide arrangements for cooking for both officers and guards at the Cook House of the Steamer under their command while transporting POW's.
In fine condition with wear as shown in the scan. Signed boldly by Lt. Colonel E. H. Oakley.
