Illinois Reverend wants to form a sharp shooter company!

Olney Ill.
July 28th, 1862
Governor, State of Ill.

Dear Sir,
According to the request of some of the loyal citizens of the state. I would ask whether you would accept of a company of "sharp shooters," we had our company partly filled, and could soon fill up, but yesterday we learned that you refused to accept any such.
I am a minister of the Gospel, and these men are my friends living in different parts of the state. If you grant us your permission, we shall be at your service in a few days. The most of this company are old man, used to the rifle and the hardships of life.

They feel that they can do more for their country in such company, if it be your will then in any other.
We would pray you to answer our request immediately
I am your humble servant.
