Edward T. Bouve' also held commissions in the military service of the Commonwealth after 1865 [and prior to 1898]. He was "Colonel and Aide-de-camp to his Excellency Governor Long; Captain and Engineer on staff of Brig.-Gen. Nat Wales, 1st Brigade, M. V. M., Feb. 9,1883; Captain and Provost Marshal, 1st Brigade, May 24, 1887; Captain and Aide-de-camp, 1st Brigade, April 10, 1888.
