1864 letter from Louisiana "Blood Hound Scout" Thomas H. Hall to Colonel Willard Slocum, of the 120th Ohio Infantry.
Great content as Hall is looking for continued employment with Slocum as a scout.
"Morganza Nov. 21st, 1864
Col. Slocum
If you are on the Staff or if you are Provost Marshal where you are going you will please use all your exertions to have an appointment made in such a manner to have me brought in to your employment so I can be of service to the U. S. Government. I am anxious to help the Stars & Stripes as I have heretofore been doing. I desire to do it but try to give me a situation that will reward me for my services as I have not yet received a cent for services rendered for scouting and here I remain in danger of being captured by the Rebels every moment as you know it is my earnest desire to follow you and Genl Lawler
Very respectfully your
Obt. Svt
