19th Century Collection of Glass prosthetic replacement eyes
19th Century collection of glass prosthetic replacement eyes! Purchased from a now closed medical museum, there are twenty-five glass eyes, all handmade with meticulous care and detail.
In the mid-nineteenth century, glass artisans in Thuringia, a region in eastern Germany, developed a superior glass formula for the making of artificial eyes. Combined with their techniques of blowing hollow glass objects, the center for glass eye making moved to Germany.
They are real prosthetic eyes, and quite impressive in person. All are in fine condition.
