CSA 1864 "Dist of Texas New Mexico and Arizona" General Order No 123, which explains that "all white men residence of the Confederate States between the ages of 17 and 50 shall be in the service of the Confederate States during the war
II
That all persons aforesaid between the ages of 18 and 45 now in service shall be retained during the present war with the United States in the Regts Battalions and Companies to which they belong at the passage of this act, with the same organization and officers unless regularly transferred or discharged in accordance with the laws and Regulations of the Army
The Requirements of the extract will be literally obeyed by officers & soldiers of Districts"

Legal page sized, in very fine condition. This had to be a stunner to those poor soldiers who thought they would go home upon the end of their enlistment term! The order also shows the desperation of the rebel authorities to man their armies towards the end of the war.
