"Second Lieut. Andrew Hume Nave was born in Knoxville Tennessee on February 23, 1846. He was appointed to the West Point Military Academy, entering on July 1, 1867 and graduating in 1871, becoming a second lieutenant in the 7th Calvary.
Joining the regiment in Kentucky while they were on reconstruction duty. Later with company D he served at Fort Snelling, Fort Stephenson and Fort Totten, Dakota Territory on detached service.
He was injured while on the Black Hills expedition in 1874 and went on sick leave from July, 1874 until August 1876.
While on leave, he commanded the cadets of East Tennessee University. He was again found fit for service and reported for duty at Fort Lincoln to take on light duties. He missed traveling with the regiment on the Little Big Horn campaign.

In fine condition with wear as shown in the scan. Image and mount measure 10" x 13." Period ink id'd, I do not believe that is his autograph.
