Cdv of Merrit B. Case, 1st Minnesota Infantry, severely wounded at 1st Bull Run in July, 1861. He would join the 23rd USCT in 1864 and be taken POW at the Crater explosion and attack and confined at Macon, Georgia. Ink signed on the verso, with wear as shown in the photograph. Case served in two great units, and paid a severe price for his service!
