Incredible Sheriff Buford Pusser ("Walking Tall" movie fame) Grouping
Not often do I venture into non-military collectible material, but this Sheriff Buford Pusser ("Walking Tall" movie fame) grouping was something I just had to have!
I was a teenager when the movie made Sheriff Pusser a famous southern lawman.
Pusser was famous for being incorruptible, intolerant of crime, and for his array of four-foot hickory clubs which he uses to great effect in dispatching criminals and destroying their clandestine gambling dens and illegal distilleries in McNair County, TN.

Included in the group is a check payable to Flake Smith for $17.75, dated February 17, 1972, and an official Inspector Badge for the Tennessee Police Department, given to Ricky Brown by Chief Eddie Bond in June 1975. Bond was appointed by Mayor Lloyd Harris, Pusser's uncle. Pusser arranged for Bond to be appointed Police Chief, issuing him this badge, actually worn in the line of duty by officers during the reign of Pusser.
Accompanied by a letter of provenance from Brown and an original letter from Pusser's mother that accompanied the check.
All in fine condition, with cancellation holes and ink not affecting the signatures, with three vertical folds on the check.

$550.00 plus shipping for the group
